I think I am somewhat unusual in that I own the T X, but I'm not a corporate type (semi-retired). If I was, I would be ticked that they're charging for a software update. Think about -- not every wi-fi card is installed in a corporate environment, but I don't know of any network hardware company that would charge for a security update (or driver) for a NIC. That's rather bogus. For $6, I better get a CD, otherwise I just might have to in turn charge Palm $10 for delivering their products via my internet connection.

While I somewhat agree about it sucking that they are charging for this, I also think that $6 is a *very* reasonable fee for something that provides even more functionality than the only previously offered enterprise wifi app (the Aegis client from Meetinghouse, which cost $30).

Oh please, this is $6 that is being complained about! (note to self, in a year when they charge $$ for a REAL update to the palm, you lose all rights to complain!!!) By the way internetpilot, do you get a cd when you pay $20 for a program on palmgear or somewhere else? But reverse charging. Very interesting!!

To me, Palm is just being like any software company with this release. Whether it's for the best, I don't know.

I do figure that when they did the 3.5 to 4.0 rom update, they didn't end up getting that many sales. People who would do the update didn't want to pay the money and knew how to download a copy off of the net, and most other people had no clue about the rom update. On the other hand, to call it an 'update' makes it quite cheesy to charge for this. If it was an 'upgrade,' which in my mind it is, I think it would sound better.

Ptedit50 exe. Jan 12, 2019  Guest The editor has so many functions that the learning curve is rather shallow. And let's be honest -- it doesn't always work the way you expect (eg, changing the aspect ratio of the text box also alters the text itself).

Palm Desktop is the desktop companion software for all Palm devices. It allows users to view, sort, find, edit, back up, and add anything to Palm OS handhelds. This update features a new user interface, useful new views, and timesaving features, such as a Hide/Show/Mask Records function and a resizeable memo window. Additionally, it also includes improved security and new ways to share, send, and receive appointments and address book information. In addition to a brand new look, this updated software offers expense tracking, in-place memo editing, new ways to customize your launcher bar, a variety of desktop alarms, and more.

Version 6.2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes. Reply by tquinn on June 5, 2014 Johnstone59, I just tried your idea and successfully installed Palm Desktop 4.1.4 on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

But after installation, the Hotsync is not working via USB (it makes the sound that there is a connection, but nothing else happens). Did you have to do anything special to get USB Hotsync working? I've read that Palm Desktop 4 doesn't support USB on Windows 7, which is why it is recommended to go to Palm 6.2 which supports Bluetooth USB. But it sounds like you got the USB working on Windows 7.
